Wimbledon 2010 – Murray Cruises into 2nd Round

Andy Murray cruised into the second round of Wimbledon with a comprehensive 7-5 6-1 6-2 win over Czech Jan Hajek.

He’ll now face either Jarkko Nieminen or Stefan Koubek in the second round on Thursday.

Murray did lose his serve early on in the match be easily recovered as he worked his way into the match getting to grip with the court and very hot sunny conditions.

The count is now up 74-years since the last men’s singles champion at Wimbledon and his form today will now raise expectations on him after his poor recent form had lowered them.

There had been plenty of question marks over Murray’s form coming into Wimbledon 2010 – He has not won an event this year after managing 6 tournament wins last year and has been losing to much lower ranked players something that he has done at all in recent years. He had admitted to struggling for confidence following defeat by Roger Federer in January’s Australian Open final when he failed to play to the best of his abilities.

Murray lost to Roddick the semi-finals last year and with the way his draw is looking he should not have any excuses for not reaching that same satge agian where the likely match up would be against new world number 1 Rafael Nadal, a rematch of their 2008 quarter final that Nadal won in straight sets.
