Ram and Erlich get first title of season

Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich defeated the world no. 1 doubles team, Bob and Mike Bryan, to win their first title of the season.  The Isreali team advanced to their fourth career final match after defeating Serbians Nenad Zimonjic and Novak Djokovic in the semi final.

The Bryans were winning 4-0 in the first set and it looked for a short while like they were sailing towards and easy win.  However the Israeli duo fought back to break the Bryans, who won the set 6-4.

The Israelis won the second set 6-3, and the match went to a gripping tie-break.

Ram and Erlich started out very strong with a 5-2 lead, only to find themselves down a match point at 8-9. They managed to win this game and the next, and had their first match point at 10-9.  However Mike Bryan countered with two big first serves to give the Americans their second match point.

Soon afterward the Israelis had their second match point at 12-11, which Erlich finished with a slick volley to win the match.

All in all it was a teriffic match.  Very exciting indeed!
