Another year and another semi final defeat for Andy Murray at Wimbledon.
For the third straight year Murray’s hopes of winning Wimbledon have ended at the semi final stage and for 3rd year out of the last 4 he ahs been knocked out by Rafael Nadal. He lost 5-7 6-2 6-2 6-4 in front of a capacity centre court.
The result could have been so different today, if not for easy missed forehand by Murray. After taking the first set 7-5, Murray led 2-1 in the second set and when at 15-30 on the Nadal’s serve he hit an easy forehand long, anywhere on the court it was winner, but sailed a foot long and from then on Murray never won a nother game in the set.
His dip of form continued for the third set and into the 4th set and only once he was down a break in the 4th did he seem to regain his composure, by then the damage was done.
Murray will now look to the US Open for his first major title and rue once again chances missed.
On wining today Nadal said,
He played fantastic at the beginning but he had an important mistake at the beginning of the second set, at 15-30 an easy forehand he played long, and probably that was one of the turning points of the match.
