Andy Murray and Stanislas Wawrinka have a really competitive head to head record. Their record currently stands at have met on 10 occasions and their head to head record currently stands at 6-4 in Murray’s favour.
Wawrinka is two years older than Murray and those extra years of experience gave Wawrinka the edge as he beat the young Murray in their first couple of encounters in 2005 and 2006. Murray though gained the advantage through 2007, 2008 and 2009 as he won 5 of their 6 matches his this period, his only loss coming on the clay courts in Rome in 2008.
Murray’s final win in 2009 was that epic match under the roof at Wimbledon. It was the first full men’s match to play under the roof and the time the latest finish to a Wimbledon match. Murray was pushed to 5 sets win finally finishing the match at 10.38pm.
Wawrinka though would claim revenge for that loss as he knocked Murray out of the 2010 US Open in the third round. A shock defeat as many had Murray the favourite to lift the title.
Their most recent match was another close encounter in 2011 at the Shanghai masters, Murray winning in three sets.
