That sole loss came in the 2008 Australian Open first round. It was at that event that Tsonga announced himself on the world stage going all the way to the final losing to Novak Djokovic. It was at the time a surprise loss for Murray who was expected to win the match comfortably.

Although Murray broke into the top of the men’s game earlier than Tsonga, the Frenchman is actually two years older than Murray.

These two also met quite a while before either of them made their big break through, in 2004 at challenger in Nottingham, a 16 year old Andy Murray lost easily to the 18 year old Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
