Andy Murray and Andy Roddick have played each other 9 times, but it’s been almost 2 years since they last met. Murray holds a winning 6-3 record over the more experienced Roddick.
The last time the met was the 2009 semi final at Wimbledon, with Murray the favourite to win the match and reach his first Wimbledon final, it was in fact Roddick who upset the form guide and prevailed in 4 closely fought sets.
Up until then Murray had been in control of most of the matches, Roddick’s only other two wins coming in the USA hard courts back in 2007 and 2006.
Wimbledon 2009 and Wimbledon 2006 are the only times they have met on grass with Murray the winner on that first Wimbledon meeting. They were also set to meet each other at Queens in 2008 before Murray had to pull out of the match with an injury.
