Andy Murray will have fond memories of playing Richard Gasquet, even though the Frenchman has beaten on a few occasions. That’s because he has won their most memorable matches coming from two sets down to win the match on two separate occasions.
Who can forget their epic match at Wimbledon 08 when Richard Gasquet served for the match with a 2 sets lead only for Andy Murray to come back and win in the most dramatic of circumstances. Murray would once again meet Gasquet at Wimbledon 2011, though this time it was a straight sets win for the Scot.
Murray would go on repeat this feat at 2010 French Open in front of the Frenchman’s home crowd.
Gasquet’s first two wins over Murray came in 2006 and 2007, and from then on it seemed Murray seemed to have winning edge over Gasquet.
Richard Gasquet is currently a top 20 player, though was a top 10 player back in 2007. He has had a difficult time in recent years largely down to his three-month doping suspension in 2009. In 2011 he recaptured some of his old form and since been doing well.
