Andy Murray reached his second US Open final with victory over Czech Tomas Berdych despite dropping a close opening set.
Murray won the match 5-7 6-2 6-1 7-6 (9-7) in three hours 58 minutes.
The victory today will see Murray return to world number 3 in the rankings as well as becoming only the second British man to reach two US open finals. Murray will face either David Ferrer or Novak Djokovic in the final.
After his semi final win Murray spoke to the media,
I hope so. You can never say for sure and I know how tough these events are to win. Novak and David are very tough opponents. Anything can happen in these conditions but I’ll give it everything I have.
Murray had to battle the elements as well as Tomas Berdych to reach the final, the wind making attractive play extremely difficult.
It was brutal, The ball was moving, stopping, there were chairs flying. They were some of the hardest conditions I’ve ever played in and I come from Scotland, so that’s saying something.
