Murray Brothers Reach Montreal Masters Quarter Finals

Murrays MontrealAndy and Jamie Murray had a fairly successful week in doubles at the Canadian Masters in Montreal. They reached the quarter finals of the event eventually losing to Tomas Berdych & Florian Mayer.

Along the way to the quarter finals, the British duo beat eighth seeds Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer 6-2, 2-6, 10-8, that victory would have been all the sweeter for Jamie Murray, who was once a long term partner with Eric Butorac. When the duo split a few years ago, it was Murray who was expected to gain and rise in the rankings, however it’s been Butorac, who has had most success since then.

The brothers, who won the Valencia 500 title last year, are playing together for the sixth time this season. They had some sucess in their first two events this year reaching the quarter finals Indian Wells and the semi finals in Rotterdam, though since then have suffered three straight first round losses, there last at Queens Club in June.

Murray will have been glad to have played the three matches after he lost in the opening round of singles event to world number 35 Kevin Anderson.
