Queens Club James Ward

James Ward’s week at Queens Club got even better today as he completed a 3 sets win over defending champion Sam Querrey. He beat the world number 26, Querrey 3-6 6-3 6-4 to reach his second ever ATP quarter final.

The world number 216, Britain’s number two, took the final set today after their match was halted on Thursday because of bad light in London.

Ward, 24, now faces unseeded Adrian Mannarino of France later on today and gives Ward a real chance of reaching his first ever ATP tour semi final and with it 90 ranking points and a possible match with world number 1 Rafael Nadal.

After his win Ward said,

It’s unbelievable, These past two matches are the best of my career. On Centre Court last night there was a great atmosphere, It was a shame we had to stop. My serve helped me out and I also played all right from the back as well, so it was a good performance overall.
