Cincinnati Masters begins today

The ATP Masters Series continues today with the Cincinnati tournament.  And it looks like it’s going to be a good one…

The first match on centre court today sees Tim Henman playing Juan Ignacio Chela.  If Henman wins we may see an all British match in the second round; but British no. 1 Andy Murray will need to get through the first round.  Murray will need to up his game from last weeks performance at Montreal in order to beat the force that is Marcos Baghdatis, currently ranked world no. 18.

The world no’s 1, 2 and 3 (Federer, Nadal and Djokovic) are also playing in the Cincinnati tournament.  After Djokovic’s wins over Nadal in the semi finals and then Federer in the final last week at the Montreal Masters, he will probably be feeling quite confident.  Federer and Nadal, however, will both be attempting to regain their honour this week after their successive losses.

Jamie Murray will be playing in the doubles tournament with Mahesh Bhupathi as his partner.  Bhupathi clinched the doubles title at the Montreal Masters last week with partner Pavel Vizner.

Most of the world’s top 44 players have entered into the singles tournament.  Personally, I can’t wait to see what happens!
