Andy Murray is expected to participate in the Rogers Cup in Toronto, the next ATP Masters Series event, which begins 21st July.

Murray broke back into the world top 10 this week after reaching the last eight at Wimbledon, where he was beaten by eventual champion Rafael Nadal and will move up into the top 8 soon with one or two good wins in the upcoming master events. A top 8 place will provide an easier draw for the US Open which starts at the end of August.

Previously Murray had said,

I’m playing less tournaments after Wimbledon because I have to make sure I have enough rest days and am not burnt out by the time I get to the US Open, It’s a tough stretch.

Regarding the Olympics Murray said,

It’s not just about the tennis, it’s about being in such a great competition. Very few athletes get the chance to do it these days. If you’re lucky you might get the chance to do it once in your career. To do it at 21 is great and I want to do well there. It is an honour to represent your country and I am looking forward to it.

Andy Murray to Play in Indianapolis Next Week

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Andy Murray will take part in the Indianapolis tennis championships next week. It will be Murray’s first tournament after losing his quarter final match to eventual winner Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon.

Murray who was still injured this time last year will be looking to start his prepeations for a vital US hard court season, he has few points to defend in the next two months and will be aiming to put in another good grand slam performance at the US open in September.

Murray will be joined by James Blake, who is the highest ranked player currently enrolled to play. Blake is currently eighth in the world one place ahead of Andy Murray.

The Indianapolis tennis championships is the first tournament on the “US Open Series” – the self proclaimed greatest road trip in sports. The series will include master events, the Rogers Cup in Toronto, the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters event in Cincinnati and of coarse the US Open.

US sports networks to go all out to promote this event and last years bloopers of the ads is still priceless, Watch a younger Nadal really struggle with English in this clip from 2007.
