Murray Wins Third Title in St Petersburg
Sunday, October 28th, 2007
Andy Murray secured his 3rd ATP title of his short career with a 6-2 6-3 win over Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in the St Petersburg Open.
The 20-year-old Scot never allowed his opponent to settle, breaking in games three and seven as he took the opening set without breaking sweat and although Murray rarely produced any brilliance, he managed to break twice more to clinch victory.
It lifts him to 11th in the ATP Race and gives his chances of making the end-of-season Masters Cup in Shanghai realistic.
