Australian Open 2011 – Murray Through to Round 3

Australian Open Tennis 2011Andy Murray produced his second clinical performance in this years Australian Open, dispatching Ukrainian Illya Marchenko in straight sets to reach round 3 of the event for the 4th time in his career.

Murray easily came through the match 6-1 6-3 6-3 and will now face the 32nd seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain.

Marchenko, ranked 79 in the world was no match for tonight, but did show signs that the 23 year old may well have a good future in the game.

The match was played on the Margaret Court Arena and watched by what seemed liked a home support for Murray, after the match Murray spoke to press,

I played well. A lot of the close games I served well in, when I needed to really. That was the difference. When you haven’t played many matches for a while, it is good to have those tough games and tight moments. You have to come through those if you want to go deep into the tournament.
