Gilles Simon (FRA) v [2] Roger Federer (SUI)

The highest ranking casualty of the first round was 18th seed American Sam Querrey who lost in 5 close sets to Poland’s Lukasz Kubot.

The worlds top 5 all eased to straight wins in the first round, though the second round should prove a little tougher. Roger Federer takes on Giles Simon, the Frenchman would normally be a seed here, but injury has seen his ranking fall. Simon holds a 2-0 winning record over Federer, so this could be an interesting match for the world number 2.
