Just 8 men are left standing in the 2013 Australian Open and we now have a complete quarter final draw.
There were no major upsets in the 4th round, but there was almost the biggest upset when Stanislas Wawrinka pushed Novak Djokovic all the way to 12-10 in the 5th set after he led by a set and 5-2 at one point in the match. Djokovic survived that match but must now face 5th seed Tomas Berdych who once again came through his fourth round match in straight sets. Berdych was off court in less than two hours whilst Djokovic had to endure 5 hours on court in his match.
David Ferrer continued his serene progress, dropping just 7 games in his win over 16th seed Kei Nishikori. He will meet 10th seed Nicolas Almagro in the quarter finals in an all Spannish affair.
Andy Murray and Roger Federer both had simple wins in the 4th round, Federer’s win though was much more impressive dismissing the much hyped Candian Milos Raonic in straight sets.
Federer will face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarters after the Frenchman beat fellow countryman Richard Gasquet in 4 sets. Murray will also play a French player after Jeremy Chardy took out 21st seed Andreas Seppi.
