2012 Rome Masters 1000 First Round Draw

Rome Masters

The ATP tour continues this week at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia and features the best players in the world. This is the last of the three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 contested on clay and will be the last event that the top players will play before the French Open.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic will be bidding to retain his title he won last year, the Serbian dethroned Rafael Nadal with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the final 12 months ago. Nadal had won here 5 times previously and will be seeking a sixth title.

Both Nadal and Djokovic will be looking to bounce back from early defeats on the very strange blue clay courts of Madrid last week.

The winner in Madrid, Federer competes in Rome for the 12th time. He has never won the title in Rome. Another who has never won the title in Rome is Andy Murray. He did though become the first British male to reach the Rome semi-finals in over 70 years when he reached that stage last year.
