2012 French Open Third Round Draw

Roland Garros 2011All the matches of the second round are now complete and the complete line up for the third round of the 2012 French Open is now known.

There was one big seed to exit in the second round, 10th seed John Isner was sent home by home favourite Paul-Henri Mathieu in a dramatic 5 set match which ended 18-16 in the final set.

There were a 4 further seeds eliminated in round 2 including 24th seed Philipp Kohlschreiber, 25th seed Bernard Tomic, 28th seed Viktor Troicki and 32nd seed Florian Mayer.

In the third round on Friday world number 1 Novak Djokovic will play French qualifier Nicolas Devilder and Roger Federer will play another French player Nicolas Mahut. Then on Saturday Rafael Nadal will continue his defence against qualifier Eduardo Schwank and Andy Murray will play Columbia’s Santiago Giraldo.

All 4 of the top seeds made it through to the third round but Andy Murray was almost on his way home as a back injury seemed to be sending the Scot out of this years event. He was able to recover with a massive help from his misfiring opponent Jarkko Nieminen. We will need to wait and see if Murray is fully fir to continue in the tournament.
