2012 French Open Fourth Round Draw

Roland Garros 2011The fourth round marks the start of the second week of a Grand Slam and we now know the 16 men who will be part of the 4th round draw of the Roland Garros 2012. The 4 matches in the top half of the draw will play their matches on Sunday and the bottom half will play on Sunday.

There wasn’t any major shocks in the 3rd round, but there was some eyebrows raised at a few results. Big serving Milos Raonic was thought to be a good bet as a 4th round opponent for Nadal but the Canadian was taken out by 13ths seed Juan Monaco who has the enjoyable task of now playing Nadal. Lucky loser David Goffin from Belgium continues his progress, though he will next face Roger Federer.

There were a further 6 seeds eliminated in round 3 including 11th seed Gilles Simon, 14th seed Fernando Verdasco and 21st seed Marin Cilic.

World number 1 Novak Djokovic and 6 time French Open champion Rafael Nadal both continued their smooth progress through the first week. Djokovic should face a tougher opponent in the 4th round as he takes on Italian Andreas Seppi.

Roger Federer once again needed 4 sets to get by Mahut in the third round, he surely should have an easier match in round 4 as he faces Goffin for a place in the quarter finals.

Andy Murray recovered from his injury problems of round 2 to breeze through his third round match. He thouth should have toughest of fourth round matches against France’s Richard Gasquet.
