2012 French Open First Round Draw

World number 3 Roger Federer will face Germany’s Tobias Kamke in the first round, whilst Andy Murray will take on Tatsuma Ito of Japan.

World number 1 Djokovic looks to have relatively comfortable journey through to the semi finals with his only tricky obstacles looking to be Fernando Verdasco in the 4th round and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter finals, neither of which will worry Djokovic on a clay court.

Roger Federer though may have a interesting match in the 2nd round, he potentially faces David Nalbandian here. After that his run through to the quarter final looks clear where he would face either Tomas Berdych or Juan Martin Del Potro – both players who can beat Roger Federer in grand slam events.

Andy Murray has not played well so far this year on clay and as a result has not much been mentioned to make an impact at Roland Garros this year. He will do very well to make the semi’s as he did last year with tough matches against Bernard Tomic in the third round and in the 4th round against Richard Gasquet or Alexandr Dolgopolov and a potential quarter final with Spain’s second best clay court player David Ferrer.

Nadal could be tested in the 4th round where he would likely meet Milos Raonic or Juan Monaco, both players have been showing some fine form this year. Apart from that match up Nadal looks to have an easy route through to the semi’s.
