2011 Swiss Indoors Basel First Round Draw

2011 Swiss Indoors Basel First Round DrawAndy Murray joins Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer at the 2011 Swiss Indoors Basel First Round Draw making it one of the strongest fields outside the majors and master events.

Murray needed a wildcard to enter as he was not signed up for the event, the tournament though I’m sure were  more than willing to give it to him and secure 3 of the worlds top 4 players.

Murray is coming in to the event with a 15 match win streak which includes 3 back to back titles in Asia. He also enters as world number 3, seeding him above home favourite Roger Federer for the first time ever!

Murray in recent years has played the Valencia event that is also taking place this week, but perhaps an early knock out last year persuaded him to head to Switzerland. He faces a tough test to win here though.

In his opening round he faces Robin Haase, who almost knocked the Scot out of the US Open in the 2nd round. Murray needed to come back from 2 sets down to secure the win on that day. Hasse won their only ever previous match back in 2008.

Should Murray win his first round match he will likely face Swiss no.2 Stan Wawrinka in the second round, 6th seed Janko Tipsarevic in the quarter finals before a possible Federer semi final and Djokovic final.
