The complete line up for this years Quarter Finals at Roland Garros was not known today as the final man to book his place in the last 8 was Andy Murray and he needed two days to finish off Victor Troicki after bad light ended their 4th round match yesterday.
We are still waiting to see our first major upset in the men’s event this year. Andy Murray was almost going out as he trailed by two sets to love at one point and his opponent served for the match, but he managed to turn it around. World number 1, 2 and 3, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer all made it through comfortable and Robin Soderling completing his 4th round with a win ensuring the worlds top 5 all made it through to the quarter finals.
Novak Djokovic is already through to the semi finals after Fabio Fognini pulled out due to injury. That means there will just be one quarter final in the bottom half played today between world number 3 Roger Federer and the last remaining Frenchman Gael Monfils.
Tomorrow the top half will play and the match up of the tournament so far will take place between Rafael Nadal and Robin Soderling. It’s a replay of last years final and Robin Soderling remains the only player in the world who has beaten Nadal at Roland Garros, though Nadal got revenge in the final last year for that loss.
In the last of the quarter finals Andy Murray will take on unseeded Juan Ignacio Chela, that match will be second on the Suzanne Lenglen court, which should give a start time around 3pm (GMT).
