2011 French Open 3rd Round Draw

Roland Garros 2011The last match of the 2nd round has just finished completing the third round draw for this years French Open. We are now down to the last 32 players, this is the first time were seeded players can meet and the matches begin to get a little more interesting.

We have yet to see any major upsets in the men’s draw as the top 5 seeds have all made it through to round three, all with relatively comfortable straight set wins in their second round matches.

On Friday Juan Martin Del Potro will face Novak Djokovic, it’s easily the match up of the tournament so far. Djokovic is currently on a 41 match wining streakĀ  (39 this year) and needs just one more win to pass Roger Federer on the list of all time winning streaks. Del Potro barring injury would surely be a top 5 player at this moment and his perhaps one of the few players capable of beating Djokovic.

Roger Federer will also be in action tomorrow as he faces 29th seed Janko Tipsarevic. Outside contender, 7th Seed David Ferrer continues to make steady progress and he faces 31st seed Sergiy Stakhovsky.

The rest of the bottom half will be playing on Friday and the top half of the draw will play be playing on Saturday, including Andy Murray, who takes on GermanMichael Berrer and Rafael Nadal who faces qualifier Antonio Veic
